Um...42k? Thats extremely low for such a reliable car. Figured that would have 242k or 342k on it.
Yeah, that's what everybody says when they see it :D
lol, who needs a hybrid when you can get an old Honda and get awesome MPGs

It's about time Apple provided Mini buyers with a branded monitor option. :)

Well, they don't necessarily need to field troops that shoot rifles. Having a ground force can mean a lot of different things, including spec ops. I think one feasible solution may be to have US troops field artillery. This might be one of those opportunites to test "smart artillery" on those trenches near civilians and hospitals. They might also try to blow up more tanks so they can sell them more refurbished M1 Abrams later. I think smart artillery is more economical than aerial bombing runs to blow up some cheap russian tanks.

I'm thinking about my future 8 core Macpro:
2 questions for you:
- Do you think the 8 core proc will produce a lot more heat than the current core duo 2 ? I'm asking because I need a very quiet computer ...
-As always: shall we expect this one in the Macpro before 2007 ?
thx !
1. Yes. Lots more heat. Also the PSU may not be sufficient to drive the CPUs, memory, video card. two optical drives, four hard disks, all the gizmos on the main board etc... Effectivly Intel fixed the problem with their CPUs being power hungry heat monsters with the Core 2 Duo - and then they made exactly the same mistake by creating a power hungry heat monster with their Core 2 Quads... All just to beat AMD to the "Quad Core"
2. My guess (just a guess mind) is Feb-March next year.

Doesn't seem to stop Obama from going on TV to claim credit though.
Maybe he thinks if he does enough of nothing, he'll get himself another Nobel Prize.
Still, it's good to see other governments taking the point on this. We've got enough on our plate as it is.

I think it will be at least 12 more months before bluray shows up in an Apple machine - at least as a standard. The only real hint I have seen is that they already let you author HD video in DVD SP.
You appear to support Blu-Ray Disc, but your "evidence" is that today we can author HD-DVDs (onto red-laser DVDs) in DVD Studio Pro.
BTW, all Macs sold today, and many Macs going back the past few years, are HD-DVD players. They play HD-DVD from red-laser DVDs authored in DVD SP. DVD Player 4 (or maybe 4.1 or 4.6) in Tiger has the capability as long as your other hardware (G5[s] or Core Duo) is up to it.

I guess we're diverging from the actual rumour - new Mac Mini real soon.
It'd be cool to see some kinda of upgraded/dedicated graphics, a bigger 7200rpm HD, and 2 firewire ports. Maybe some built in or adapter based outputs for dual dvi? Alot depends on the ammount of vram it will have.I look at the existing Mac Mini, and your wish, and see too many $ signs!.
Perhaps our wishes require a range of options. Mac Media HD vs Mac Media. ;-)

No, but I sure would like to learn! My mid life crisis is right around the corner and I would like to buy a sports car preferably a convertible with a manual transmission. I realize it's clich but I still would like to do that! :)

Last time we played we beat you 3-0 in England im pretty sure.
We should have won the bloody world cup.
We dominated against Italy until Grosso dived and got the most dodgy penalty in history, then we would have smashed ukraine in the quarters, then we would have been in the semi's against Germany, then anythign could have happened. Lets just say FIFA didnt want us to win, because its the one sport we 'aren't meant to dominate'. So the ref played it that way.
People should have learned not to count out an Aussie. Our spirit means we have the best in every field from sport to soldiers.
We would kick ur ass
Well, that's certainly a 'spirited' post! O_o

Conroe iMac would be an imediate purchase from me.
Bingo! Bring on the iMac Ultra with Conroe, 23" display and a powerful GPU. Now that would be an immediate purchase for me.

The App Store should really harness the power of torrent technology for files like this.
Steam has been doing fine with PC games 6+GB.

I was finally able to take my own pics of my just acquired '88 BMW 325is with M50B25TU engine swap. Darn this car is quick and handles so very well.
Don't mind my nerdy self, It's who I am and I have come to accept it over a decade ago:D
This car is just perfect! Congratulations on the new purchase!

Woah. Here's something I haven't seen mentioned -
The 10th Anniversary iPod Touch: a 220gb iPod Touch. It's an iPod touch with the storage of an iPod Classic. Or rather, an iPod Classic with the interface of an iPod Touch.
Discuss.

Very minor one: instead of the spinning wheel, now it actually says "Updating..." when, um, updating. :D

i would not like to see a larger screen, but perhaps higher definition say 360p or 480p instead of the 240p. no real updates on the OS.
I think it depends on what they want to achieve with it. Do they want a HD video unit? A portable login disk? Just a bigger 'classic'? An iPod Touch with a hard disk?
I could almost see an iPod Nano screen plus click wheel, with a 220GB HD.

For 10 to 15 bucks these videos better be a higher quality than their current videos in the iTunes Music Store.
I was hoping they'd be releasing a Mac Media Center to compliment this movie service, but after today's iMac update that seems unlikely (the 24" iMac would have been the perfect all-in-one media mac).
As for Disney and Apple, who would have thought! ;) :p

I am talking about graphics capabilities now.
Actually, you are just confused and trying to back peddle:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=12245564&postcount=105
You are talking DirectX version numbers(which already has nothing to do with what we're talking about and has no bearing under OS X) in relation to OpenCL when OpenCL has nothing to do with DirectX? Something doesn't add up here.

Curious to see some statistics on this.
yes indeed. i have looked at some high quality SSD drives and bought one from other world computing for fairly low price but is fastest SSD i know of, and the guaranteed lifetime data storage expectancy reaches well over 200 years and the read/write rates remain constant for roughly the first twenty. i think he had it backwards. HDDs lose their magnetic charge after a while and your data fades away and gets corrupted.

The bigger question is, should Apple dumb OS X Lion down to allow the iOS people to have an easier transition, just seems like it undermines the quality of the product especially for the people who already know and like OS X SL the way it is.
Perhaps when you first start up the computer they can have a "Do you want iOS mode or Fanboy mode?"
